Glasgow George Square

Glasgow George Square, Tarun Chandel Photoblog

George Square is considered to be the heart of Glasgow. With cultural carnivals going on almost all round the year it is a very easy for tourists to meet and interact with Glaswegian people. George Square is a big open space surrounded with classy Victorian buildings that houses the most modern brands that you can think of. In the center of the George Square stand the statue of Sit Walter Scott on top of a huge pillar. One of the Glaswegian friend I made there told me the names of other statues scattered all around but I could remember only Robert Burns (may be from Braveheart no but that was Robert Bruce). There is also a War Memorial at George Square. It was a very different feeling to see all the young people enjoying the carnivals at the same place where all the greats of Scotland were erected as statues. It felt as if the kids are playing under the supervision of these wise elders.
